This seems to me to be a very personal verse. On can reflect on it or not. The tone of the verse does not seem to me to be critical so much as it is instructive. I feels to me like a parent encountering a child who has put on and tied their own shoes for the first time, only the shoes are on the wrong feet and the bows are knots.
