Binding the Self-Centered Imagination through the repetition of vocalizations (singing or saying the same thing over and over again).

As we have often discussed, though there are many many ways to realize single-hearted salvation, still, there is only one way. That one way is through the mind of true sincerity, the mind like clear water. There are two ways to achieve a mind of true sincerity: Randomly, as is the case when the causality of origin just happens to line up for us, or deliberately, as is the case when we purposely and deliberately set out to quickly make our mind one with the intention of the mind of the Parent of origin by following the instructions for purifying our mind exactly as they are given.

We are taught in the poems of The Tip of The Writing Brush that God our Parent will accept any truly sincere mind and in this context we could say that God the Parent accepts our true sincerity whether it be a result of a randomly achieved causality of origin or a deliberately achieved causality of origin. It is important to note however, that those who would be God the Parent's instruments are asked to quickly follow the path of deliberately and intentionally calming and settling their self-centered imagination so that they can quickly return their mind to its original condition and from that point of view serve as instruments for the salvation of others.

Many of us who would like to follow this direct and quick path find that there are some difficulties to be overcome. For some even the identification of the self-centered imagination presents a problem. Once identified as the voice or images of the mind our self-centered imagination is often found to be very difficult indeed to control and quiet. The imagination is often found to be somewhat wild and untamed, going of in what ever direction it is attracted to.

This teaching demonstrates several ways to quickly settle one's mind. One such method that is shown instructs us that the  self-centered imagination can be identified, determined and calmed is by giving it a repetitious task to perform. Select a word or phrase that suits you and repeat it out loud over and over again. The purpose in doing so is to stop the usual unchecked movement of your imagination. Try it. Use any word or phrase and with your eyes open repeat it out load, over and over again. Even better sing it out loud. The effect is to engage the imagination so that it cannot wander off without disrupting the unbroken flow of the repetitions.

Like all of the instructions given in the Tip of The Writing Brush the effort must be made totally in accord with the instructions. The instructions specify that the effort be truly sincere, that it be our number one priority and also that the calming of the mind be immediately followed with pondering the truth that the whole universe is the body of God.

If your sincerity does not accord with the mind of God,
In vain is devotion, however great it may be.

The mind of God is known and understood through the totally purified mind like clear water. At first glance such a mind may seem impossible to achieve. Reasoning from the point of view of the self-centered imagination alone that is true. Through the teaching of the Reason of Heaven we are instructed to ignore such thoughts as they are just the natural and expected result of the common worldly reason that recognizes that we cannot continue to use our self-centered imaginations as the foundation of our reasoning and at the same time return to our origin. If however, the instructions are followed exactly as given, the idea that the mind like clear water is an impossibility  settles out with the rest of our self-centered thoughts and the mind like clear water quite naturally appears of its own accord. Try it and see for yourself.
